As a leader in nursing education for more than 100 years, the School of Nursing empowers students in undergraduate and graduate programs to become nurse leaders. Prepare to become a licensed RN through on-campus and hybrid BSN and entry-level MSN programs. Or, if you’re already a registered nurse, complete your bachelor’s degree in the online RN-BSN completion program, earn an online MSN (Nursing Informatics or Nurse Educator) or DNP degree (Adult-Gerontology, Pediatric, Psychiatric-Mental Health).

Available Nursing Programs

Accredited and Respected

All nursing programs — baccalaureate, master’s, and doctor of nursing practice — are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).  The bachelor of nursing programs are also endorsed by the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) and approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. A holistic approach and compassionate attitude provide support to you as you study at St. Kate’s. Clinical Experiences

St. Kate’s provides immersive clinical experiences and all the support you need to be successful. Our dedicated clinical placement coordinator provides clinical placements for all nursing students at leading Twin Cities-area hospitals and healthcare facilities across the nation thanks to St. Kate's robust clinical partnerships. 

BSN (On Campus)

This on campus program for women prepares future registered nurses to work in all areas of our healthcare system.  Receive clinical training at major Twin Cities health facilities and be prepared to take your NCLEX board exam for RN licensure once you graduate.

BSN (Hybrid)

Students of both genders will study with the convenience of a hybrid program model.  Learn via a combination of online classes, in-person learning at our St. Paul campus and clinical instruction in the Twin Cities.  Be prepared to take your NCLEX board exam for RN licensure once you graduate.

RN-BSN Completion (Online)  

Licensed RNs of both genders, with an associate degree in nursing, are invited to complete their BSN in only 10-12 months.  Join our widely respected nursing program and continue working as you conveniently study online.

BSN-DNP Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (Hybrid)    
This 73-credit program is for RNs with BSN degrees of all genders who want to become nurse practitioners.  The format includes both online courses and highly interactive learning experience on campus and at clinical sites. 

BSN-DNP Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (Hybrid)
This 74-credit program is for RNs with BSN degrees of all genders who want to become pediatric nurse practitioners.  The format includes both online courses and highly interactive, in-person learning on campus and at clinical sites.

Doctor of Nursing Practice: Post Master’s (Online)
Registered nurses with MSN degrees can finish this 35-credit DNP degree program in only 24 months.  The program is open to all genders. Courses are innovative and interrelated and include fully online learning and a systems change project completed in your own community. Students complete up to 460 practicum hours.

Second Certificates (Hybrid)
Nurses who have previously earned DNP degrees and are already certified as advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) may add a second certification in these areas: Adult-Gerontology, Pediatric or Psychiatric-Mental Health nurse practitioner.  A "second certificate" may be completed in one year.

BSN-DNP Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (hybrid)
This 68-credit program is for RNs with BSN degrees of all genders who want to become nurse practitioners who focus on specialized care to newborns, including those who are premature, sick, or injured. The format includes online courses and one to three highly interactive learning experiences on campus or at clinical sites each semester.

BSN-DNP Family Nurse Practitioner (hybrid)
This 69-credit program is for RNs with BSN degrees of all genders who want to become nurse practitioners who focus on providing high-quality, compassionate, patient centered primary care with a dedication and commitment to social justice and health equity. The format includes online courses and one to two highly interactive learning experiences on campus or at clinical sites each semester.

BSN-DNP Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (hybrid)
This 68-credit program is for RNs with BSN degrees of all genders who want to become nurse practitioners who focus on providing advanced practice nursing assessment and management of common and acute alterations in mental health care with a dedication and commitment to social justice and health equity. The format includes online courses and one to two highly interactive learning experiences on campus or at clinical sites each semester.

Master of Science in Nursing (On Campus) 

Looking to become a registered nurse?  St. Kate's on campus master's program is for career changers of both genders with a bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field. This is the accelerated way to become a licensed RN, a master's prepared nurse and a certified public health nurse.  

Master of Science in Nursing: Nurse Educator (Online)  

Nurses of all genders with BSN degrees will learn to inspire the next generation of nurses through education in this 32-credit masters. Earn your MSN and set your sights on a career in patient education, professional development, or academia.

Master of Science in Nursing: Nursing Informatics (Online) 

Nurses of all genders with BSN degrees will learn to apply informatics to clinical nursing practice using a broad-based understanding of information technologies.  Upon graduating from this 37-credit-hour MSN program, you are eligible to sit for the Nursing Informatics Certification Exam.
